The Cisco SCE Virtual Service Control Engine (vSCE) provides more network visibility and helps you optimize use of resources through effective traffic management. This virtual appliance can be deployed in any cable, wire-line, mobile, public sector, or enterprise network application. Customers can also use it for testing purposes and for trial of new services.
Features and Capabilities
The Cisco vSCE can be deployed using the hypervisor software platform. It also maintains full software compatibility with the Cisco SCE 8000 Service Control Engine. All the software-related features available on SCE 8000 are available on vSCE.

The Cisco vSCE integrates with existing network infrastructure, management, provisioning, operation, and support systems. It uses custom APIs and industry standard management protocols (Radius, Diameter, SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol), DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), IPDR (Internet Protocol Detail Record)) in a similar manner as the standalone Cisco SCE 8000.
The ability to deploy the vSCE on COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) HW provides the flexibility for customers to reduce power consumption, space, and capital expenditures. Also, the vSCE and the SCE software solution components (Subscriber Manager and Collection Manager) can be installed on the same server hardware.
Better Subscriber Management
The Virtual Cisco Subscriber Manager middleware provides subscriber information to one or multiple vSCE platforms. It offers subscriber-aware functions, subscriber reporting, and policy enforcement.
Improved Collection Management
The Virtual Cisco Collection Manager: collates the usage information from one of multiple vSCEs, and processes them before storing in the database. Insight, a web based GUI reporting tool, uses the data to provide meaningful reports with pre-defined reporting templates.
